In 1984 I started the study for assistant (ASOP) in Amsterdam after which I worked in an Amsterdam Hospital (OLVG).
Since 1988 I worked in the Lemmens GP-practise, which became part of the Noordhof-practice in October 2010, where you can find me every working day.
What does a(n) Assistant do?
The doctor's assistant triages: asks about your complaints to determine the appropriate urgency. For this they use validated guidelines of the NHG (Dutch Scientific General Practitioners). They have their own consultation hours, in which they measure blood pressures, do pap smears (through screening), making EKGs, the fitting of Holter and 24-hour measurement, ear syringing. They also do part of the administration.
